Nestled atop the scenic heights of Kottolkkunnu, Vellanur, Kunnamangalam Govt. Arts and Science College had its humble beginnings at a temporary campus in NIT GHSS, Kozhikode in 2014. The land at Kottolkkunnu was subsequently acquired by the Chathamangalam Gramapanchayath and handed over to the college. Thereafter, the construction work commenced under the patronage of Adv. PTA Raheem MLA. The college shifted its functioning to the newly built campus at Vellanur in 2018.
In 2014,The govt. of Kerala appointed Dr. K. Muhammed Noufal, Assistant Professor of Commerce, Govt. College Kodanchery, as a special officer to start the functioning of the college. Dr. M A Vasantha was appointed the first principal of the college in March 2017. Currently Dr. K. Muhammed Noufal acts as the Principal -in-charge.
Kunnamangalam Govt. Arts and science college is the first Arts and Science college in the Kunnamangalam constituency in Govt./Aided sector. As a Premier institution of learning, the college has been serving aspiring students from the educationally backward and rural areas in and around Kunnamangalam since its inception in 2014.It strives to uphold its motto “dedicated to excellence”, and relentlessly motivates both staff and students to pursue excellence in their respective fields.
